IF the Japanese and Chinese languages have proved too hard to learn, now might be the time to try 'Dragonese.'

Children – and maybe adults relieving their youth – can learn to speak ‘Dragonese’ and dress up as Vikings at a new exhibition starting today at the Ulster Museum.

'A Viking’s Guide to Deadly Dragons', lasting until the end of August, will bring visitors back to a time when Vikings ruled and dragons roamed.

Set on the literary series How to Train Your Dragon by Cressida Cowell, the exhibition is the first one of its kind ever held in the Ulster Museum to be based on a book.

The exhibition will showcase how the books came to be written, with examples of Cowell’s original sketches, story plans, notes and manuscripts.

Participants will also be able to sail on a Viking longship as part of the activities.

During the exhibition children from ages 7 to 11 will be able to celebrate their birthday with the characters, with a guided visit, craft activities and a room to celebrate the big day.

** Your class can win 1 of 3 overnights with the Vikings & the Dragons in the Ulster Museum by collecting the Dragon token printed daily in the Irish News.
