Enterprise train halted

THE cross-border train service linking Belfast and Dublin will stop in Dundalk on Friday due to the mass public sector strike.

The Enterprise train service between Dublin Connolly and Belfast Central will only travel as far as the Co Louth town.

There will be no Enterprise services in the north on Friday.

The Enterprise is jointly operated by Iarnród Éireann (IE) and NI Railways (NIR) and operates on the Belfast to Dublin railway line.

A spokeswoman for Translink last night said they were "not operating any cross-border trains".

She also said there would also be no cross-border bus services, apart from those already operated by Bus Éireann.

She said the Goldline X1 service connecting Belfast and Dublin, which is operated by Bus Éireann, will run as planned.

However, she added that the Goldline X2 service from Belfast to Dublin will not go ahead, while the Goldline 274 and X4 services from Derry to Dublin will also not operate.

Compensation arrangements will be in place for passengers who have pre-purchased tickets for the Enterprise train and Goldline buses to Dublin Airport.

The spokeswoman added that those due to take the cross-border services will be contacted via email with options for a refund and urged users to contact Translink for further information.
