Fans toast Elvis's 80th

ELVIS fans celebrated what would have been his 80th birthday yesterday.

The Official Elvis Presley Fan Club of Northern Ireland hosted a screening of the musician's most famous television appearance - the '68 Comeback Special - at the Ulster Hall in Belfast last night, followed by a 'video disco' of some of Elvis's greatest hits.

Dozens of fans flocked to the event.

One fan, Catherine Granleese, said she had been an Elvis fan since she was five. "I listened to him and I just loved him and that was it," she said.

Her husband Neil said it was his wife's enthusiasm for 'the King' that encouraged him to become a fan. "We've been to see an Elvis impersonator in Las Vegas," he said. "We've been in the Las Vegas Hilton (where Elvis played hundreds of shows). We're going to Graceland next year."
