Blair faces OTRs grilling

FORMER British prime minister Tony Blair is set to appear next week before the Westminster committee investigating the 'on the runs' (OTRs) scheme for fugitive republicans.

Mr Blair's Labour administration sent around 200 letters telling people they were not being pursued by British authorities following requests from Sinn Féin. An investigation was launched by MPs when the prosecution of John Downey (63) for the murder of four soldiers during an explosion at London's Hyde Park in 1982 was halted when it emerged he received a letter in error.
