Ghosts and ghouls come out to play

VAMPIRE bats, pirate skeletons and witches both young and old were among the tens of thousands of revellers who turned out for last night's Banks of the Foyle Hallowe'en Carnival in Derry - one of Europe's largest Halloween parties.

A carnival parade wound its way through the streets of the city, followed by a fireworks display over the River Foyle.

Revellers visited Chateau le Fear, a house of horrors, and a 'Freaky Fun Fair', both in Ebrington Square.

The celebrations will continue in the city today, including the last performances of the Awakening the Walls spectacular, a show using circus tricks, fire and special lighting, which is staged on the city's iconic walls. Meanwhile, in Belfast, ghouls and ghosts attended the Monster Mash at the Titanic slipway.

Revellers enjoyed music and fire shows before a spectacular fireworks display lit up the skies above the east Belfast landmark.
