Queen's evacuated in bomb alert

A MAJOR pharmaceutical conference at Queen's University Belfast had to be abandoned last night after a suspicious package was found in the main Lanyon building. British army bomb disposal experts were attending the scene.

The university's main campus was evacuated while the package, understood to be a briefcase, was examined.

The pharmaceutical conference, hosted by health minister Edwin Poots, was attended by 19 international firms.
