Man arrested after armed break-ins

A 21-YEAR-OLD man was being questioned by police last night after a number of disturbances were reported in south Belfast.

Police were called to Burmah Street and Haypark Avenue in the Ormeau Road area between 4am and 4.30am yesterday when householders reported disturbing a man, believed to be armed with a knife, in their homes.

While officers were investigating the reports, they were alerted to a man behaving suspiciously in Baroda Parade at around 5am. Officers responded and arrested a 21-year-old man.

Further enquiries in the area found that two cars parked on Baroda Parade had been broken into.

In addition, a report of damage to a third vehicle in Delhi Street was received at around 6.15am. Officers are investigating a possible link to the other reports.
