Funeral of veteran activist

THE funeral of veteran Workers Party member Arthur McMillen took place in Belfast yesterday morning. Requiem Mass for Mr McMillen, pictured, was celebrated at St Oliver Plunkett Church in west Belfast.

He died at Belfast's Royal Victoria Hospital on Saturday. Mr McMillen, from a staunchly republican family, was involved in Na Fianna Eireann as a young man. He was the brother of Official IRA leader Billy 'Liam' McMillen, who was shot dead by the INLA in a feud in 1975. Tributes were paid to Mr McMillen, a regular letter-writer to The Irish News, last night.

An Official Republican Facebook page described him as " an inspiration and motivation to many young republicans".
