Blast site found after 'loud bangs' heard

BRITISH army bomb experts were called to a Co Down village yesterday, hours after villagers reported hearing a "big explosion".

Locals in Killyleagh took to social networking sites on Sunday night after "two loud bangs" were heard in the area.

Police revealed that investigations in the Coily Hill Road area of the village resulted in officers finding "what is believed to be the site of two small blasts". British army bomb disposal experts were called to the scene at about 2.30pm yesterday and left shortly after 4.30pm.

Police last night reiterated their appeal for information about the blasts.
