Killers put on deadly show

REVIEW

KILLERS/BASTILLE

Tennents Vital Belfast

TENNENT'S Vital is a bit different this year. Instead of back to back concerts, the gigs are on a Thursday and then a Sunday - lots of recovery time for anyone going to both at Boucher Road playing fields in south Belfast. Last night saw American indie rock band, The Killers play Vital for the second time having headlined in 2007 when the concerts were at Ormeau Park.

It seemed like quite a few people came just to see the support, Bastille.

The band came out to the Twin Peaks theme song which had some of the crowd looking baffled.

They played their hits Laura Palmer (they are clearly fans of David Lynch's TV show) Bad Blood and Icarus.

The band could barely be heard over the audience belting out their anthem Pompeii.

Bastille covered TLC's No Scrubs and had the crowd pogo dancing to their version of Rhythm of the Night.

A sure way to get the crowd on side is to talk about how nice it is here.

The Killers front man Brandon Flowers listed the local landmarks that they had visited and then announced they were going to perform a classic song from "Stroke City".

The Undertones hit Teenage Kicks was met with great enthusiasm which was only rivalled when they covered Brown Eyed Girl.

Flowers isn't a fantastic singer but he's a great performer and The Killers fans don't care: they are singing every word with him anyway.
