Fine for urinating outside church during service A

WEST Belfast man has been fined £100 for urinating outside a church while a service was underway.

Belfast Magistrates' Court heard that Kevin McFall was arrested after ignoring police instructions to stop what he was doing.

The 21-year-old, of Moyard Parade in the city, was due to contest a charge of indecent behaviour yesterday.

But he instead pleaded guilty to having committed the offence on May 4 this year.

A second charge of possessing an offensive weapon in public, namely rocks, was withdrawn.

A prosecution lawyer said McFall was seen urinating against a fence outside All Saints Church on Westminster Street in south Belfast. "Police told him to stop as there was a church service ongoing," she said.

He was detained at the scene when he continued, the court heard.

A defence solicitor confirmed McFall is currently serving a prison sentence for another undisclosed offence. He is not due to be released until early next year.

After hearing details of the indecent behaviour District Judge Fiona Bagnall imposed a £100 fine.
