Tennis star is 'perfectly fine being single'

TENNIS star Caroline Wozniacki has said it would take "someone very special" to win her heart - just weeks after splitting from Northern Ireland golfer Rory McIlroy.

The 23-year-old sportswoman, who had been due to marry the Holywood man, was speaking about her love life on the second day of Wimbledon yesterday.

The Danish athlete said she was "perfectly fine being single" however when asked about possible admirer, Spanish tennis heart-throb, Feliciano Lopez, she smiled and said: "This is very awkward."

The young sports-star was speaking just weeks after she and fiancé, Rory McIlroy announced a shock split.

Having become engaged on New Year's Eve, the pair - dubbed Wozzilroy -had been due to get married in New York in November.

However, last month, the Co Down golfer revealed that he and Caroline would not be getting married and in fact, had split.

Admitting, the "problem is mine", the young Northern Ireland man said the wedding invitations being issued had made him realise that he "wasn't ready for all that marriage entails".

Yesterday, Caroline appeared to be keeping her options open with regards to romance.

Speaking at a post-match press conference, the tennis star giggled when she was asked about Lopez.

She described her fellow tennis star as "a great guy" who was "playing well"

The tennis star said she wasn't "that desperate" to try internet dating, adding: "I'm perfectly fine being single at the moment".

"It's pretty hard to sweep me off my feet. It would have to take someone very special.

"You know, you never know. I guess when you least expect it, it's going to come."
