Royal visit likely to disrupt traffic

MOTORISTS have been warned of potential traffic disruption around Belfast for next week's royal visit.

Queen Elizabeth and the Duke of edinburgh are due to visit northern ireland from Monday until Wednesday. On Tuesday motorists can expect traffic disruption around parts of Belfast from early morning until about 3pm.

Police traffic control measures, cones and barriers will be put in place on crumlin road on Monday evening, extending from crumlin road/Agnes Street to the slip roads at clifton Street.

Security checks will be in place on the crumlin road from early morning until noon.

Police have advised anyone due to visit the Mater Hospital on Tuesday to allow extra time for their journey.

There will be no access to the Mater Hospital for private vehicles or taxis from the clifton Park Avenue/Agnes Street direction from 9.30am and noon on Tuesday.

There will be a security presence at all access gates to the Mater Hospital and staff and members of the public may be asked to show identification.

Traffic flow may be restricted in the city centre as the royal party visit venues including Belfast city Hall.
