Parade ban on Bryson lifted

HIGH-profile Union flag protester Jamie Bryson is no longer banned from attending parades.

The 24-year-old is charged with participating in unlawful processions and had been prohibited from being within a mile of any demonstration as part of his bail terms.

At Belfast Magistrates Court yesterday District Judge Fiona Bagnall granted a defence application for the condition to be lifted.

Mr Bryson can now go to events over the marching season as long as they comply with Parades Commission notification requirements.

He must also tell police of his plans.

Bryson, of Rosepark in Donaghadee, Co Down, is to contest the charges at a hearing listed for next month.

The judge also agreed to suspend Bryson's bail terms for two weeks this month so that he can go on holiday.
