7,000 apply for 100 posts in PSNI

A New recruitment drive for police constables will be launched by the PSNI today after a previous campaign saw 7,500 people apply for 100 posts. The new campaign is asking interested candidates to complete an initial online application form before June 20. Candidates who meet the initial criteria will be asked to sit a selection test. Several further tests will then be carried out to select the new recruits. Temporary Deputy Chief Constable Alistair Finlay said the PSNI was "strongly encouraged" by the response to last year's recruitment campaign. "There is no question that the recruitment process is rigorous. However, it has been developed to ensure that the very best candidates will go forward to be offered a place on the training programme," he said. Information events are being held across the north over the next few weeks. For more information see www.joinpsni.co.uk
