Taoiseach promises Ballymurphy visit

TAOISEACH Enda Kenny has said he will visit the families of those murdered in the Ballymurphy killings on his next visit to Belfast. The Fine Gael leader told the Dail he would meet the families in Ballymurphy itself, although no set date was mentioned. Members of the British army's Parachute Regiment shot dead 11 civilians in Ballymurphy in west Belfast in August 1971. John Teggart whose father Danny was among those killed, thanked Mr Kenny for his support. "We look forward to meeting the taoiseach in Ballymurphy and working with the Irish government to forward our campaign for truth, justice and the implementation of an independent Panel into these 11 innocent civilians' deaths," he said.
