Passenger makes an unscheduled stop

A SHOPPING centre in Belfast city centre came to a standstill yesterday when English folk pop star, Passenger put on an impromptu busking performance.

The singer-songwriter, best known for hit 'Let Her Go', had tweeted yesterday morning that "depending on the weather i'll be busking just outside or inside the Victoria shopping centre today from around 1ish - Can't wait x".

The news spread around social networking sites and when the singer and his guitar took centre stage indoors at 1pm, hundreds of people had gathered for the special performance.

The gig left fans ecstatic, with some taking to Twitter afterwards.

One fan wrote: "i got to sit front row and watch Passenger play a free gig in Belfast, what a perfect way to spend a sunday!"

While another added: "great atmosphere, for a fantastic artist in Victoria square".

The performance comes six months before Passenger is due to play a gig at the O2 in Dublin on november 22 and the Waterfront hall in Belfast on november 23.
