One year in jail for rioting dad

A 52-year-old father-of-five who threw several missiles at police lines during a riot in north Belfast last July has been sent to jail for a year. Harold Henry William Ritchie, from Pomona avenue in east Belfast, will spend a year of his sentence in prison with another year spent on supervised licence when he is released from custody. Serious rioting erupted in the Woodvale area of the city on July 12 last year after police blocked a return leg of an orange order feeder parade past the ardoyne shopfronts following a ruling by the Parades Commission. Ritchie was seen on CCTV throwing several missiles at police lines.
