Jury trial for soft drink case

A 19-year-old man accused of stealing a soft drink worth £1.49 will have his case heard by a jury. David Armstrong of Mahon road, Portadown, is alleged to have stolen the appletiser drink from a Supervalu outlet in dungannon on april 8. During his appearance at dungannon Magistrates Court yesterday, Mr Armstrong asked for the case to be heard at a "higher court". The case was adjourned until May 28. Under law, Mr Armstrong has the right to have a jury decide on the case, rather than by a district judge at a magistrates court.
