Ulster Bank repays customers

ULSTER Bank yesterday said money had been repaid to all customers whose accounts had been debited twice.

The bank confirmed that all money had been restored to affected customer's accounts on Thursday night.

Some customers had reported that cash machine withdrawals were debited twice from their accounts. The problem with the bank's computer systems lasted for 24 hours, beginning on Easter Monday.

The bank had promised that no customers would be "left out of pocket" as a result and apologised to those who had been affected.

It is not clear how many customers were affected by the latest IT glitch to hit the bank.

The glitch is the latest IT problem to hit the bank.

In 2012, a serious computer failure at the bank's parent company, RBS, caused widespread chaos for many customers who were unable to access their funds.
