Elizabeth not our queen

TERRI Jackson (april 11) refuted Conor Murphy's words when he described Queen Elizabeth as "the British queen".

Terri went on to say: "Conor Murphy needs to get real and live in the real world. Actually she is also the queen of Northern Ireland, it being part of a monarchy encompassing all of the United Kingdom".

I'm sure Conor can defend his own words but when I see this rubbish being talked it saddens me to see some people still can't respect the other's point of view.

I agree with Conor, of course, she is the British queen. We are an island called Ireland, we don't have a monarchy.

If some other country wants to self-impose its might and will on us as an Irish nation, shame on them but don't expect all of us to accept and agree with it.

We have a president, democratically elected by the people of Ireland.

So in conclusion, Terri, you get real and live in the real world. NIALL KEENAN Cookstown, Co tyrone
