The truth about The fall is out there says Gillian

HOLLYWOOD actress Gillian Anderson last night said the next series of The Fall will be "definitely more intense", as she helped open her hairdresser's new business in Lisburn. Anderson, who stars in the gripping television drama as DSI Stella Gibson along with Co Down actor Jamie Dornan, visited the salon to support its owner Deborah McCarthy.

The former X Files actress became friends with the stylist in 2012 when ms mcCarthy was asked to return from Australia to work on the popular BBC Two series in Belfast.

Last night Anderson took a break from filming to officially open Deborah mcCarthy Hairdressing in Lisburn. Although the actress would not give much away about the forthcoming second series, she did reveal "it's definitely more intense in a big way", adding that her character "does get closer to the truth".

She also praised ms mcCarthy for "helping to create the look that is Stella". Anderson, who has just returned to Northern Ireland for filming and will be here until June, said she hoped The Fall would have a third and fourth series. She said she has gone "from hotel room back to hotel room" and that she only got to see the north while shooting her next movie Our Robot Overlords, partly filmed at Carrickfergus Castle. Ms McCarthy (26) who has worked on other productions based in Northern Ireland including Game of Thrones and Line of Duty, said the offer to work on The Fall was "too good an opportunity to miss". other actors from the series attended last night's opening, including Bronagh Waugh and Ms McCarthy's brother Gerard mcCarthy.
