Dornan nominated for Best Actor Bafta

CO DOwn actor Jamie Dornan has been nominated for a Best Actor Bafta coming hot on the heels of his success at the Irish film and TV awards on Saturday.

The Holywood-born star is recognised for his role as twisted killer Paul Spector in BBC2's The Fall.

The Fall is also nominated for Best Mini-Series.

The nomination comes after major wins on Saturday for the 31 year-old actor who grabbed the Best Actor gong and Irish Film Board Rising Star award at the Irish Film and Television Awards in Dublin.

As well as Dornan's Best Actor gong for The Fall the drama itself scooped Best Drama award with Belfast DJ David Holmes lifting an Ifta for his Original Score.

Last year Dornan landed the role of Christian Grey in the upcoming film adaptation of the best-selling erotic novel Fifty Shades of Grey.

Other Irish nominations in the Baftas include Chris O'Dowd, pictured, nominated for Best Male Performance in a Comedy Programme for The IT Crowd.

His co-stars, Richard Ayoade and Katherine Parkinson, are also nominated and the show ties with Southcliffe for the most nominations.

Cork-born comedian and TV star Graham norton is nominated for Best Entertainment Performance, with The Graham Norton Show also among the Best Comedy and Comedy Entertainment Programme nominees.

The awards take place in London on Sunday May 18.
