£62 million funding agreed for Casement scheme
FUNDING worth £62 million has been agreed to redevelop casement Park in west Belfast. culture, arts and leisure minister caral ni chuilin approved the money after planning approval for the new 38,000-seater stadium was announced earlier this week. ulster GAA announced last night that Heron Buckingham's JV - a consortium lead by co Derry based developers Heron Bros - had been appointed as the project's contractor. Meanwhile, funding worth £31m has been agreed to redevelop Windsor Park soccer stadium.
The money will allow the irish Football Association (iFA) to build new stands at the Belfast ground and raise its capacity to 18,000. The stadium is also home to linfield Football club.
The refurbishment is expected to be complete by 2016.
