Second Derry cultural legacy scheme

A second scheme has been unveiled to maximise the legacy of Derry's city of culture year. Derry city council, along with the Arts council, has pledged £900,000 for a programme of music, fashion, storytelling and visual arts.

It follows a £2 million plan announced by culture minister caral ni chuilin to establish a legacy company to develop spin-offs over the next three years.

Among the highlights of the city council project is 'Music city 2014', including a website matching musicians and venues. Derry mayor Martin Reilly said it would run in parallel with the department of culture plans. "We are a proud and ambitious city with

many talented and creative people," he said. "The city has made amazing progress during 2013 in how we look and feel and we want to continue with this transformation."
