AGM briefing

* Judges took a real a slating from the floor during the 'any other business' section of the Branch AGM, particularly where there is such a disparity between placings.

And as a result, a letter is to be send to the adjudicators' management committee to answer bands' concerns.

* Pipe banding's finances appear to be in rude health after the NI branch reported a surplus of £30,000 over the last year while the parent body in Glasgow had £80,000 to spare.

* A number of changes were made in the NI branch rule book for next year, though in most cases it was merely updating old stuff and won't cause too many ructions.

It did eat up an hour-plus of the meeting though.

* The Branch hierarchy stays largely the same for 2014 - and three cheers for president Fred Walker, who had planned to retire but was persuaded to stay for another year.
