Fare play for Down GAA

DOWN GAA are inviting people to sample the 'Finest Christmas Fare in the Kitchen' at a fundraising event in Newry this weekend.

The cookery demonstration on Sunday night will see some of the county's top chefs come together for a special seasonal cook-off.

Devon McShane, Angela Mullan, Mary Quinn and James Short, from the Canal Court and Carrick-dale hotels, will take to the stage

to cook up a festive feast, offering the audience lots of top tips for preparing the perfect Christmas banquet.

From prepping the veg and cooking turkey with all the trimmings, to whipping up a delicious dessert, the live demonstrations will feature some audience participation from Down GAA personalities.

Those attending can also visit a craft market before enjoying some festive treats, including mince pies and mulled wine.

The event takes place at the Canal Court Hotel as it enters its 15th year as sponsors of Down GAA.

Sean Og McAteer, Down GAA secretary, encouraged people to get in the Christmas spirit and attend.

"It's going to be a good Christmas night out," he said.

Down GAA's Christmas Cookery Demonstration begins at 7.30pm on Sunday. Doors open at 7pm.

Tickets are available from the Canal Court Hotel, the Down County GAA Office in Castlewellan and Down GAA clubs.

Those attending can also pay the £10 entry fee at the door.
