Stolen flag returned

AN APPRENTICE Boys of Derry flag stolen from the city's St Columb's Cathedral has been recovered and is to be handed back to the Church of Ireland writes Seamus McKinney.

The crimson flag, hoisted at the cathedral every August since the early 1700s, was stolen on Monday. However, following appeals for its return, Derry's Creggan Community Collective retrieved the flag. Collective spokesman Gary Donnelly said the flag was retrieved in the Creggan area following negotiations with young people.
