Cannabis worth £600k seized

CANNABIS with a street value of more than £600,000 has been seized by police during an operation on the outskirts of north Belfast. Detectives from Organised Crime Branch also arrested three men during the raid in Glengormley. The men aged 33, 39 and 47 were last night being questioned in Antrim police station. Dectective Inspector Alan Pyper said the team took "pride in our success... [which] has taken a large amount of drugs out of circulation and made our communities safer". He said police are "determined to frustrate, disrupt and dismantle these groups" and make the north "a hostile environment for those who would seek to make money from supplying drugs to our fellow citizens" . North Belfast DUP assembly member Paula Bradley said the seizure had "taken a substantial quantity of cannabis off our streets". "Through my previous work within the Northern Health Trust, I am all too aware of the harm which illegal drugs cause to society and to individuals, both to their physical and mental health and to their potential in life," she said.
