AN investigation is under way after a 21-year-old man was found dead yesterday in a Garda station cell in Co Waterford.
The man was arrested shortly before 11am and was being detained at Dungarvan Garda station in the town. His body was discovered in a cell before noon yesterday.
It is understood the man, who was from the Dungarvan area, was under arrest for a minor public order offence.
The Garda Ombudsman has been called in to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death.
A postmortem examination is expected to be carried out today at Waterford Regional Hospital.
