Translink to offer travel services for fleadh

TRANSLINK is to provide a range special travel services for next month's Fleadh Cheoil na hEireann in Derry.

Tens of thousands of visitors are expected to flock to the city for the world's largest celebration of traditional Irish music, song and dance.

Translink will provide train, coach and bus services to transport competitors and visitors to and around the city during the Fleadh, which will take place from August 11 to 18. A late-night train service between

Derry and Belfast will run at 11.40pm on the weekend beginning August 16, when the largest crowds are expected. Special regional coaches will also run from Belfast, Enniskillen, Omagh, Dungannon, Magherafelt and Newry at £16 per person.

Visitors will be encouraged to use a range of cross-border and local Translink services throughout the festival. A ticket offering unlimited day travel on the north's Ulsterbus and Goldline services for £9 after 9.15am will also be provided.

Launching the plans yesterday, Translink's western area manager Simon Corrigan said the firm was keen for City of Culture visitors to have an enjoyable experience. Visit or call 028 9066 6630 for further details.
