Heart attack victim's body to be repatriated

EFFORTS were under way last night to repatriate a Co Antrim man who died suddenly in the US.

Richard Martin from Dunloy was initially believed to be the victim of a hit-and-run. However, parish priest Fr Aidan Brankin said Mr Martin, a single man, had actually died of a heart attack.

The 42-year-old had been found collapsed on the side of a road in Chicago, where he worked as a joiner, and an initial theory had been that he was struck by a car. "The family are bringing Richard home after he died of a heart attack, which is very tragic at such a young age," Fr Brankin said. "Richard had been working in the States for a number of years. His parents are both deceased so his brothers and sisters are bringing him home for burial."
