Church gets lottery funding
A GRADE A listed Presbyterian church is to be restored thanks to more than £900,000 in lottery funding.
The Heritage Lottery Fund has awarded the grant to Portaferry Presbyterian Church, pictured, built in the Co Down town in 1841 and one of the best examples of a Greek Revival-style building in Ireland. The money will go towards repairing the roof and windows and reinstating its distinctive stencilling and marbling. The building will also be used as a centre for arts and culture.
