Second night in hospital for Mandela

FORMER South African President Nelson Mandela, right, has spent a second night in hospital, where he is being treated for a recurring lung infection. The South African government said that 94-year-old Mr Mandela was taken to a Pretoria hospital after his condition deteriorated on Saturday. His condition on Saturday was described as "serious but stable". Worshippers at a Sunday church service in the Johannesburg township of Soweto prayed for Mr Mandela's recovery. The anti-apartheid leader has now been taken to a hospital four times since December, with the last discharge coming on April 6 after doctors diagnosed him with pneumonia and drained fluid from his lung area. Meanwhile, British National Party leader Nick Griffin has sparked anger by describing Mr Mandela as a "murdering old terrorist" on Twitter. The far-right politician said the former South African president oversaw the transformation of his country from a "safe economic powerhouse" under the racist apartheid regime to a "crime-ridden basket case". ?
