Mouse support for the Xbox One is a step closer to becoming a reality after Microsoft enabled some players to start using the device as part of its latest preview.

The test is only limited to third-person shooter Warframe, but the move offers hope to users who have been calling on the console maker to introduce a full mouse and keyboard combination for some time.

At the moment, only testers on board the Alpha Skip Ahead and Beta programs are able to try out mouse support, by checking out the Quest in the Xbox Insider Hub.

In September, Microsoft announced that mouse and keyboard support was imminent on the Xbox One, after enlisting gaming hardware brand Razer for the best possible mouse and keyboard experience.

However, gamers can choose to use most wired or wireless USB keyboards and mice.

Microsoft is set to reveal details about additional titles that will support mouse and keyboard in its November 10 edition of Inside Xbox.
