Apple has revealed it will hold a live event in New York at the end of October, where the tech giant is expected to announce new versions of the iPad and MacBook lines.

The October 30 event, which will probably be a more low-key affair than the announcement of the trio of new iPhone handsets that took place at the firm’s Cupertino campus in September, will take place at the Brooklyn Academy of Music – a new venue for the company.

Invitations sent out hint at an event focused on the more creative areas of product range, with the invites showing artistic renderings of the Apple logo alongside the caption “There’s more in the making”.

It is widely believed the event will be used to showcase updates to the iPad Pro line, possibly introducing an edge-to-edge display on the device for the first time as well as Face ID – bringing it in line with the iPhone X and XS design of an all-screen front panel.

New MacBooks are also expected to be announced, possibly replacing the ageing MacBook Air and offering a lower-priced alternative to the flagship MacBook Pro.

Pre-orders for the last of the three new iPhones to be announced last month – the iPhone XR – went live on Friday morning, with the handset due to go on sale next Friday.

It follows the iPhone XS and XS Max, which were released last month.
