Apple’s Covent Garden retail store is to reopen to coincide with the release of the year’s third iPhone launch – that of the iPhone XR.
The store has been closed since June as it undergoes a refurbishment to bring it in line with the “new generation” of Apple’s physical stores, including the shop in nearby Regent Street.
It will reopen on October 26, the day the iPhone XR goes on sale worldwide, the third of a trio of new iPhone handsets unveiled by the tech giant last month.
A new decorative barricade has been placed around the store to celebrate the reopening date announcement.
The revamped Covent Garden store will feature what Apple calls a “vibrant gathering place” in front of a new 6K resolution video wall, where the Today At Apple sessions will take place.
These are the free programmes run by the company in-store, which include coding sessions and beginner’s workshops on iPhone photography, among other subjects.
The store’s reopening could be greeted with queues as the iPhone XR goes on sale.
The device is Apple’s attempt to reach a wider range of consumers – it i priced at around £250 less than the starting price for the new XS and XS Max models but includes many of the same key features as the XS models.
