Google is bringing its photo printing service to the UK for the first time with the launch of Google Photo Books.
With ever-improving smartphone cameras, many people have a stack of high quality photos on their smartphones, which Google wants to put into physical photo books.
The company, which already provides photo book prints in the US, is offering an 18 x 18cm 20-page softcover book for £11.99 and a 23 x 23cm hardcover book for £22.99. Additional pages can be added at 49p per page and 69p per page respectively.
It claims to be one of the easiest photo book building services on the market, by cutting out the need to download additional software and using its existing Google Photos storage app to help users select the best images.
Google Photos already organises shots according to location or specific objects it detects, which should make it easier to get an album started.
Once the customer has selected the photos they want, Google Photos will find the best shots and lay them onto the page automatically, removing duplicates and poor quality images, before giving them the chance to make final tweaks and adjustments.
The feature will be particularly useful for Android smartphone users, whose photos are automatically backed up onto Google Photos, and more so for Google Pixel users who get unlimited photo backups with their device.
