Microsoft went big at its E3 showcase, previewing 50 games as the Xbox maker looked to outmuscle rival Sony and the PlayStation 4 Pro.

There were confirmed returns for fan favourite Xbox exclusive series such as Halo and Gears Of War, as well as a first look at the new Devil May Cry and Cyberpunk 2077.

Here’s a round-up of the most exciting announcements from Xbox.

Halo Infinite

Master Chief returns in the next instalment of the Halo series, which Xbox says will take the franchise in “new and unexpected directions”.

For now, however, not much is known about the game’s content or premise.

Gears 5

The next Gears Of War will feature a female protagonist for the first time, as Kait takes centre stage.

The game will be the biggest in the history of the popular series, and will be available on Xbox Game Pass at launch, Microsoft confirmed.

Forza Horizon 4

Another exclusive for Xbox, Forza Horizon 4 will continue the game’s tradition of being stunning to look at.

But this time, the setting is Britain – and one that changes drastically as players move through the seasons.

The range of vehicles appears to be wider than ever too.

Devil May Cry 5

The demon-slaying adventure will return in spring 2019 as Capcom’s crazy shooter makes a long-awaited comeback.

Devil May Cry 5 looks like it’s sticking to the franchise’s penchant for fast-paced, furious combat and an array of menacing monsters.

Shadow Of The Tomb Raider

The final part in this origins trilogy on Lara Croft, Shadow Of The Tomb Raider sees Lara trying to stop a Mayan apocalypse.

Much like its predecessors, Shadow looks set to be a gritty struggle with Lara fighting the elements as well as an array of enemies.

The Division 2

Set in Washington DC after the fall of the government, The Division 2 continues the first game’s urban warfare style.

The open world shooter is set to be released in March next year.

Dying Light 2

Focusing on the effects the player’s decisions have on the world around them, Dying Light 2 is a first-person adventure with seemingly multiple personalities.

Cyberpunk 2077

The next – and much-anticipated – title from CD Projekt Red, Cyberpunk 2077 takes place in a dark future filled with technology and its consequences.
