The 10th anniversary special edition iPhone X, dubbed the “future of the smartphone” was unveiled with great fanfare on Tuesday, and is set to go on sale in October.

Apple has done away with the home button and ushered in a range of new features, including Face ID, which allows users to unlock the device simply by looking at it.

Priced at up to £1,149, it is the most expensive iPhone yet.

Handsets start at £999, however the iPhone Upgrade Programme, available through Apple, provides a pay monthly option starting from £56.45 after a £69 upfront cost.

The programme allows customers to purchase a service contract directly from Apple, instead of from one mobile network only.

Alternatively, customers can still opt for a mobile network.

What will I get for my money?

Customers can choose between iPhone’s standard colours: Silver or Space Grey.

The smallest capacity will be the 64GB device, available for £47.95 per month on finance. Space then jumps to 256GB, for just over £55 per month.
