Facebook’s new “wave hello” feature is causing problems for some social media users – who are clicking it accidentally instead of the “add friend” button.
The button began appearing on some user profiles last month, but remains a test feature for now.
It is designed to be a tool for getting other Facebook users’ attention, in a similar manner to the long-standing “Poke” feature, which remains active but is buried within a sub-menu on the social network.
However, early users of the Hello button have been quick to point out its placement close to the Add Friend and Message buttons has led to regular accidental waves.
Just went to remove a random from my facebook and clicked the "wave hello" button by accident .. 😖😖

While others have been unable to pin down the exact right moment to use it.
That awkward moment you don't know what to text your crush then Facebook be like" Say Hello/wave " 😂😂😂😂😂🔥🔥

For those who do hit the button accidentally, clicking it again and confirming your choice in the pop-up menu can undo any waves sent.
