The first wave of Nokia smartphones since the company’s re-emergence will go on-sale in the UK later this month.

The firm, now in partnership with Finnish start-up HMD Global which licenses the brand for phones and tablets, announced three new mid-range phones – the Nokia 3, 5 and 6 earlier this year.

Nokia and HMD have now revealed that Nokia 3 will go on sale on July 12, followed by the Nokia 6 on August 2 and finally the 5 on August 16.

The long-standing technology giant made its mobile phone comeback in the UK earlier this year when it launched a re-vamped version of the 3310, first released in 2000.

All three new devices are designed to sit in the mid-range smartphone market – below the flagship handsets of this world such as the iPhone 7 and Samsung Galaxy S8 – but Nokia has its sights on capturing the younger market with the competitive pricing of its new line-up.

The first of the new devices to go on-sale – the Nokia 3 – will cost £120, a modest price for a phone that comes with an eight megapixel rear camera and five-inch Gorilla Glass covered display.

The Nokia 6, which will go on-sale at the beginning of August, has the highest specs of the three devices, including a 5.5-inch full HD screen, a 16 megapixel camera and Dolby Atmos sound technology built-in, which improves sound clarity and offers deeper bass.

The 6 first went on-sale in China at the beginning of 2017.

The last of the new trio to launch in the UK will be the £180 Nokia 5, on August 16. As the name suggest it sits between the 3 and 6 in terms of specifications and includes a 5.2-inch display and a 13 megapixel camera.

The tech firm is banking on its reputation from the mobile phone era of the early 2000s helping establish links with the younger generation of smartphone users of today, with HMD chief marketing officer Pekka Rantala suggesting the brand “trust” Nokia offers can not be found elsewhere.

All three phones run on the most recent version of Android – 7.0 Nougat.
