Nintendo is giving the fans what they want with news of an SNES mini before the end of the year.
Gamers were very surprised when the NES mini was announced, released and discontinued last year, despite proving hugely popular – and the SNES mini might just be the antidote.

Rumours had been spreading that Nintendo was planning a shrunken down version of the SNES – Super Nintendo Entertainment System – which was first released in the UK in 1992, for later this year. For many gamers the SNES was better than the NES due to games on offer such as A Link To The Past – considered by many the best game in the Legend Of Zelda series, as well as Super Mario Kart and Star Fox.All three of those games are included in the 21 that come with the SNES Mini, as well as Super Metroid, Super Mario World, Donkey Kong Country, Street Fighter II Turbo: Hyper Fighting, and the previously unreleased Star Fox 2. The system released in the UK will look just like the original that was on sale in Europe – with the blue, red green and yellow buttons opposed to the purple that was standard on the consoles in America.

The European SNES is still so much nicer than the American one pic.twitter.com/2gsUAo2fpI

When the NES mini was released in 2016 it sold out almost immediately, and anyone who didn’t pre-order probably struggled to get their hands on one. The console, which cost just £50, can still be bought on re-selling sites, often for a lot more than the original price.Fans of the SNES are hoping that the mini version lasts a bit longer.
Looking forward to Nintendo releasing only 5 SNES Classic units and then immediately discontinuing it.

The SNES Classic looks great, but it's hard to feel super excited about it because I'm already assuming I won't be able to find one.

The SNES mini doesn’t have a confirmed UK price yet but will cost $79 in America when it’s released on September 29.
The console comes with an HDMI cable, so can easily be used with any high-definition TV, and because of image upscaling technology the graphics can look good on even the biggest TVs.
The excitement is real among those who played the original SNES.
Gamers: "Ugh, Nintendo will never pull a fast one on me again."
Nintendo: "The SNES Mini has Star Fox 2 and Super Mario RPG."
