Nintendo has landed an early knockdown blow on its E3 rivals after a new game showcase that confirmed Rocket League, Fifa 18 and an original Pokemon game were all coming to its Switch console.
After mixed receptions for the line-ups announced by PlayStation and Xbox over the weekend, Nintendo unveiled a series of fan favourites that are making the jump to its latest console, which launched earlier this year.
The biggest surprise was Rocket League – the multi-award winning car football game that has a cult following – will arrive on the Switch this year.
That announcement was enough in itself to send gamers wild.

But that wasn’t it for crowd-pleasers, as Nintendo also teased a new, original Pokemon role-playing game (RPG) currently in development for the Switch. Further joy was also provided by the news that Super Mario Odyssey will be here on October 27.
The biggest success story on the Switch so far has been The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild, so it’s not too surprising that Nintendo has chosen E3 to announce the first two expansions to the game.
An adorable new Yoshi game was also previewed, while a brief teaser for Metroid Prime 4 also appeared as Nintendo did its best to tick the box of every type of gaming fan. When the doors of E3 open, expect a flood of people making a beeline for the Nintendo booth.
