Virtual reality has had its first big outing of E3 2017 as Bethesda revealed Doom and Fallout 4 are coming to VR headsets.

The developer revealed a handful of new titles during its pre-E3 showcase, but it’s hard to look beyond the demonic shooter and open world explorer as the headline announcements.

The Doom remake, which was a big hit at E3 2015, has now been remastered for the world of virtual reality, so shooting demons has amazingly become even more intense.

Wonderfully, this new version of the game is called Doom VFR – we’ll leave you to guess what the F stands for.

It will launch on the HTC Vive and PlayStation VR.

Elsewhere, a dream for many Fallout fans has been made a (virtual) reality, with a VR version of the game, dropping players right into the Fallout 4 universe, being announced.

It’s due to arrive in October on the HTC Vive.

Away from virtual reality, Bethesda had a handful of other cool reveals, including confirmation of two new games.

The first was The Evil Within 2, which looked every bit as creepy as you might expect from the horror-laden shooter.

Just for good measure it’s due to be released on Friday the 13th of October.

The other was Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, set in an alternative Nazi-occupied America after the Second World War.

There was also Nintendo Switch news, as Bethesda’s serial award-winning open world fantasy RPG The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim was officially confirmed for the hybrid console.

It’s huge news for gaming technology, as it is one of the first major third-party titles to be confirmed for the Switch and its home/mobile play set-up.

Not only that, but you’ll notice from the trailer that in a nod to Nintendo, Link from the Legend Of Zelda series will be a playable character in the Switch version of the game.
