Google and Levi's have created a trendy new touch-sensitive smart jacket

Google and Levi’s have come together to launch a smart jacket that lets you navigate and field phone calls without even having to touch your phone.

Plus, it’s not immediately obvious that the snazzy jacket is connected to the internet, unlike other new wearables.

The $350 (£280) jacket is specially designed for bike users, who’ll be able to flick through songs, follow map updates, and even see what locations are near by, without having to get their phones out.

The Commuter Trucker Jacket has conductive yarn built into its cuffs, which connect to your phone via a detachable button-sized tag.

The yarn was developed as part of Google’s Project Jacquard, which is working on touch and gesture sensitive materials for use in normal factory looms.

Remove the tag, and the denim garment is totally washable.

The jacket’s functions are controlled by taps or swipes to the connected cuff, which can be customised by the user.

Google announced plans to team up with Levi’s and create the jacket last year, but the real thing has just been unveiled at the SXSW festival in Texas.

The company says the jacket would be available to buy some time this Autumn.
