Pitt and DiCaprio in first trailer for Tarantino's Once Upon A Time In Hollywood
Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio star in the first trailer for Quentin Tarantino’s new crime film Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.
The film centres on the Manson Family murders in the late 1960s in Los Angeles, telling the story of Rick Dalton (DiCaprio), an actor in a western TV series, and his stunt double Cliff Booth (Pitt), who are trying to make a name for themselves in the film industry.
It also stars Margot Robbie as Sharon Tate, a Hollywood actress married to director Roman Polanski who was one of five people murdered by the cult led by Charles Manson in August 1969.
The first trailer sees Dalton – a neighbour of Tate – and Booth being introduced in a TV interview, where DiCaprio’s character is asked what a stunt double does.
While smoking a cigarette, he says: “Actors are required to do a lot of dangerous stuff. Cliff here is meant to help carry the load.”
Pitt’s character is questioned over his response, and replies: “What, carrying his load? Yeah, it’s about right.”
Robbie is seen in various clips as Tate, with other scenes showing Hollywood as it was 50 years ago.
The film, Tarantino’s ninth, has an A-list supporting cast including Al Pacino, Dakota Fanning, Damian Lewis, Lena Dunham and Austin Butler.
It also features Beverly Hills, 90210 star Luke Perry, who died earlier this month aged 52 after a stroke.
Perry plays Wayne Maunder in the film, an actor who co-starred in the western television series Lancer.
He had completed all of his scenes before he died, and the film marks his final role on the big screen.
Acclaimed director Tarantino was six years old and living in Los Angeles at the time of the Manson murders. He has worked on the screenplay for five years.
His previous films include Pulp Fiction, Django Unchained and The Hateful Eight.
Once Upon A Time In Hollywood will be released August 14.
