Brian McFadden said he was happy to get through his Dancing On Ice routine after dislocating his shoulder.

The former Westlife singer partially dislocated his shoulder and damaged his rotator cuff when he took a tumble on Saturday.

But he made it on to the ice on the ITV show on Sunday, and managed to rack up 20 points out of a possible 40 for his skate to his band’s song Mandy.

“It’s been tough but we got through, and I’m happy,” he said.

Cricketer Ryan Sidebottom performed after McFadden and only managed a score of 15.

However, he said he was “very proud” of what he achieved.

He admitted he was the contestant who fell the most, saying his nicknames were “Slidebottom” and “Sorebottom”.

Pussycat Dolls star Melody Thornton dazzled the panel – Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean, Jason Gardiner and Diversity dancer Ashley Banjo – with her first performance.

She earned 24 points, which included a seven from Dean.

The ice skating champion praised Thornton for the “intensity” of the routine, saying: “You lived that performance, and for me, that elevated it.”

Twelve new contestants are battling it out to win the competition this year.

The first six hopefuls skated last Sunday, while the remaining contestants take to the ice this week.

The others set to skate are Loose Women star Saira Khan, Love Island’s Wes Nelson and actor Richard Blackwood.

Dancing On Ice, which is hosted by Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield, continues on ITV.
