Tory MP Michael Fabricant shared a second date – and even a smooch – with a “rude” woman he was set up with on Channel 4’s First Dates.

The politician won over fans on Thursday night’s airing of the episode where he was seen offended by “aggressive and unpleasant” comments about his hair from blind date Jan – a fantasy novelist.

Despite their encounter turning a little sour when Jan said “the wig is a bit of a giveaway”, before adding “get rid of it”, the pair did meet up for a second date, Mr Fabricant has revealed.

He posted a photograph on Twitter on Friday morning of the pair on the terrace at the Houses Of Parliament enjoying a kiss.

Mr Fabricant wrote: “Jan and I did meet again after our #firstdate and we got on better without the TV cameras.”

He added “and I didn’t touch her knee” in reference to the Westminster sleaze scandal.

The 67-year-old MP for Lichfield had joked he may need to resign after watching his awkward appearance on the show.

He was left cringing as he live-tweeted while it was airing.

On the show he told Jan: “I think that’s a rather rude thing to do in a dinner” after her remarks about his hair.
