Broadcaster Shelagh Fogarty has said she was groped by a much younger man when she worked at BBC Radio 5 live.

The LBC presenter said the incident happened at a leaving party.

Speaking on her afternoon radio show, she said: “I myself was groped by an individual at BBC 5 live a long time ago.

“I did not feel any distress at it, simply because that person was so much younger than me and so new to the environment and was drunk – it was a party, a leaving do.

“I told him there and then, it was in front of people, that it was a disgraceful thing to do and he should go away from me now and not come near me again and off he went.

“Two days later, three days later, after another colleague had spoken to him and told him off basically, he then came to me and apologised and gave a very sincere apology it seemed me.”

“I just gave the guy advice, he was like a kid as far as I was concerned, he was much, much younger than me.

“I said ‘if you continue to behave like this you will get yourself into trouble, you need to address your behaviour’.”

She continued: “I don’t think he has addressed his behaviour. I look back on my not reporting that as just dealing with it between me and him.”

“I didn’t feel the need to report it.”
